3 Ways This SAHM Will Be Saving Money This Summer
Baby and I are looking forward to lots of summer fun this year, but as a stay at home mom, I need to make sure our fun is had through free or inexpensive means. Here are 3 things that will help me stay within our budget this summer:
1. Our local library:I seriously don't know what we would do without our town library as it serves so many purposes for us.- On rainy days, it is a free indoor play area for Baby. He crawls all around the children's room, explores books, and plays with puppets and puzzles.- We never pay for new books because we can get any book Baby or I want for free.- The library offers free classes. Baby and I loved our free six week "Mother Goose on the Loose" class.- They have wonderful free events! We can't wait for "Truck Day" next month where Baby will have free reign on fire trucks and construction trucks.- We use the museum passes weekly. There is really no reason to ever pay full admission price at a museum! Baby and I have been going to a different museum every week this summer, and we're getting in for free or paying next to nothing.
2. Deal websites:Thanks to deal web sites that send me daily emails, I haven't paid full price for a hair cut, a children's activity, or an eco-friendly gift purchase in over a year. Groupon, Buy With Me, and Bloomspot have been very good to me this past year, and all of my organic clothing and eco-friendly toy purchases have come from Eco Baby Buys or Zulily.
I am most looking forward to the launch of Juice in the City Boston later this summer as that will specifically be deals for moms that were found and recommended by other local moms! Juice in the City's presence in our area makes me feel confident that I will meet my goal of not paying full price for a single activity this summer.
3. Creating and sticking to a budget:I am in charge of paying the bills and keeping an eye on our budget in our household, and although I am a very organized person, I am not the most mathematically minded. This is why I am always on the lookout for financial tools that are easy and straightforward and can serve as a system of checks and balances for my financial decisions. CreditSesame is one tool that helps me monitor our credit score as we are always hoping to lower our mortgage rate, and our credit score is key to making this happen.
How will you be saving money for your family this summer?
