Honoring 9/11

Today, my heart is especially with the people of my home state, NY - remembering, never forgetting, and paying tribute to those we lost and the many heroes of that day. Wishing people everywhere strength, peace, and as hard as it may be on days like this, the ability to see the goodness of our world.

Jeff and I are especially thinking of friends and alumni from Boston College (our alma mater) who were lost on this day.
We are especially thinking of a true 9/11 hero from our college, known to the world as The Man in the Red Bandanna. ESPN has posted this moving and inspirational video dedicated to Welles Remy Crowther '99.
I would also like to share this post - The Health Impacts of 9/11 by Retro Housewife Goes Green - in honor of the hundreds and hundreds of 9/11 heroes who have died since 9/11 due to the health impacts of working tirelessly at Ground Zero. I am especially thinking of our friend of the family who was a Ground Zero chaplain and struggles with his health to this day.
And in the words of William Wordsworth:What though the radiance which was once so brightBe now for ever taken from my sight,Though nothing can bring back the hourOf splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower; We will grieve not, rather findStrength in what remains behind; In the primal sympathyWhich having been must ever be;In the soothing thoughts that springOut of human suffering; In the faith that looks through death,In years that bring the philosophic mind.
