I was so happy when Barefoot Books reached out to me about a book review and giveaway because 22 month old Baby and I had been loving the Barefoot Books we had taken out from the library. We were especially loving We All Go Traveling By - one of their many books that are accompanied by a CD with a lively and catchy song narrating the story. In Baby's case, he is a huge fan of colors and vehicles of all kinds - so this book has been a big hit.
I love everything that Barefoot Books stands for with their engaging stories and imaginative illustrations, and how could I not love their mom-centric history?

If you happen to live near Concord, MA as we do, or if you live in New York City, you can visit one of the Barefoot Books Studios. We had the pleasure of visiting the Concord location recently and Baby was in seventh heaven. This is not a typical bookstore; it's more like a magical community center offering daily art, storytelling, yoga, music, and arts and crafts activities for little ones. Baby had so much fun participating in a storytelling activity, and it was adorable to hear some preschoolers learning French in the room next door.

And now for Baby's new favorite books, courtesy of the lovely team at Barefoot Books who specifically chose books mirroring some of Baby's biggest current interests (cats, trucks, fruits and vegetables, the great outdoors) and values important to our family (green and natural living):
Herb, the Vegetarian Dragon:As a vegetarian myself, I was very excited to receive this book, but I wondered if it might be a bit too geared towards older kids to keep Baby's interest. I was definitely wrong. Since he received this book in his Easter basket, I regularly hear, "Mama, read dragon!". Baby loves the brightly colored and vivid illustrations, and I love the messaging that emphasizes keeping an open mind and respecting viewpoints different from your own.
Driving My Tractor:Baby loves farms and tractors, so this book was an immediate hit. It also comes with a CD and a fun song telling the farmer's story. The farmer picks up 15 animals and Baby loves the counting, repetition, and rhythm of this story.
Over in the Meadow:This is probably Mama, Dada, and Baby's current favorite book out of all of the children's books currently in our library. It's another sing along book with a tune that all three of us love, and Baby loves singing with us. We were amazed at how quickly he learned the key words on each page of this beautiful book.
Come Here, Cleo and Cleo's Alphabet Book:Baby couldn't be more obsessed with cats, and he just adores Cleo. When he plays with his stuffed cat, he now calls it the names of our two cats as well as Cleo - so cute!
