I have to confess: This year, we couldn't even wait until the weekend after Thanksgiving to start playing up Christmas in our house. I absolutely couldn't wait to rip open the Blu-ray DVD set of The Original Christmas Classics collection, which includes four of the movies that I have watched every single year of my life for as long as I can remember - the Rankin/Bass classics “Frosty the Snowman,” “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town” and “Frosty Returns.”
Although remembering the nostalgia of watching these classic Christmas movies in my special Christmas pajamas was fun, what was even better was curling up on the couch with my husband and kids, and seeing a new kind of Christmas magic unfold through my two year old's eyes. His eyes lit up as Frosty the Snowman came alive, and I loved hearing his laugh as Rudolph learned to fly for the first time. My son has been talking about all of those classic Christmas characters all week long, and who can blame him. I'm sure many of us could never forget Herbie the dentist elf, the island of misfit toys, and the poor snow monster with a toothache.
I look forward to continuing this tradition of a special family movie night with The Original Christmas Classics at the beginning of the holiday season each year! These iconic TV specials are part of the American holiday tradition, and they would make a wonderful gift for the little one in your life who brings magic to your daily life.
